Robert Amsterdam, the lead counsel at Amsterdam & Partners LLP, the international firm representing Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi has said that his client’s woes politically motivated by the state to discredit him.
Amsterdam was speaking after the state withdrew charges against Bobi Wine in the military Court Martial only to drag him to the Chief Magistrates Court for treason instead.
“Do not be fooled – Bobi Wine’s case is about who he is, not anything he did,” he said.
“Originally arrested for obstructing a motorcade (after they murdered his driver). Then moved to military detention and tortured over bogus firearms charge. Now re-arrested and charged him with treason.”
Bobi Wine was remanded to Gulu Main Prison until August 30 when he and the co-accused will appear in court again in Gulu.
The weak and obviously frail legislator was however allowed access to his personal doctor.
