Veteran journalist has responded to allegations by some government officials that legislators, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi and Hon. Francis Zaake were faking pain.

Several officials including government mouthpiece, Ofwono Opondo claimed that the legislators were playing to the gallery.

After meeting MP Zaake before he flew to India for further treatment yesterday, Andrew Mwenda confirmed that indeed, the legislator was tortured.  He called upon the government to own up their actions.

“Yesterday I met MP Zaake and I can confirm he was badly beaten. I do not see how such a beating could have been a result of self-defence by soldiers who we went to arrest him. Government should stop burying its head in the sand claiming he is faking his pain. The beating was real,” he tweeted.
