South Sudan chiefs council, a council of elders in South Sudan is rooting for President Yoweri Museveni as  life president of Uganda. On November 10, as the nation ceased fire and signed a new peace agreement, the chiefs pledged their gratitude to president Museveni for efforts made at solving conflicts in their country.

They hanged several banners stating that they are ‘praying to God for Museveni to rule forever’.

While addressing the gathering in company of other leaders of IGAD, President Museveni urged South Sudanese to solve conflicts through dialogue or elections rather than war.He stated that the country has lost several years to war and destruction instead of development.

“War is wasteful. South Sudan has lost a lot of development time. In 2005 during the interim period, Juba was a very small town near the river. Now it has grown wide. If we had not had this war between 2013 – 2015, there would have been even greater development. Make covenant like the one Israel made with God. War should never be used again to solve political arguments between brothers and sisters. Political arguments can be solved by discussions or free and fair elections. It is ideologically incorrect to use war for an argument. Also make sure state institutions are national to build peoples confidence.Uganda will continue to support South Sudan as we look forward to the concretisation of the truly powerful ceremony we have witnessed in Juba”, he stated.
