Police says Pastor Simon Mpinga is a habitual sodomy suspect

Simon Mpinga, commonly known as Pastor Ronnie, a born-again preacher attached to Living Gospel Church in Mukono district and The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries in Ntinda was arrested on Wednesday night for sodomizing a 16-year-old boy from his church.

Mpiga, 31, lured his follower with alcohol at his home where the victim had gone to pick Shs20,000 that the ‘man of God’ had promised him.

According to Mukono Police, the pastor had told the boy to wait for him at home only to arrive late in the night in a company of another male.

He went ahead to convince the victim to sleep over saying it was already late and with a few sips on an alcoholic concoction, the action unfolded.

“In the middle of the night, he started caressing, squeezing as he drew closer and eventually started kissing me. I tried to resist but he was strong and threatened to harm me if I didn’t. However promised to introduce me to a new life of earning dollars and being rich,” the victim’s statement said.

With the help of a lubricant, the pastor reportedly sodomised him and also asked his friend to capture a video and still photos of the acts saying the donors would increase his funding.

The following morning, the pastor escorted the victim to Bank of Africa Mukono Branch and gave Shs10,000/= as part of the money he initially had come to pick.

But all was not well as the victim’s anus wounds got worse, discharging fluids which prompted him to open up to the mother who later reported the matter to the police.

In response, the police subjected the victim to a medical examination and the doctor’s report has confirmed an “unnatural sexual connection” had been committed which contravenes the Penal Code Act.

Mpiga has since been arrested and is being held at Mukono Central Police Station on charges of sodomy, rape and defilement.

According to the District Police Commander, Mukono, SP Rogers Seguya, this is the second time the Pastor has been arrested on similar charges.

“The suspect was first arrested in May 2016 vide SD REF 23/12/05/2016 on sodomy allegations however managed to bribe his way into the victim’s family and the case prematurely closed after expression of no further interest in the case by the victim’s family,” Seguya explained.

Seguya also revealed that some lawyers purportedly from the Uganda Human Rights Commission have attempted to free the Pastor on Police Bond but have yet to register any success.

His victim is currently getting medical treatment at Mukono International Hospital.
