Mutima Beach owners to sue Police for the damages caused in retrieving capsized boat

The wrekage of the sunken MV Templar being lifted out of L. Victoria

The wreckage of the capsized boat that left very 33 people dead on Saturday has been retrieved from Lake Victoria by UPDF marine units, police and locals.

This followed a six day trial exercise which was inspired by a desire to check whether there were more bodies under or inside the sunken boat.

According to police, different items have also been retrieved and these include; IDs, ATM cards, among others.

As the efforts continue, the management of the Mutima Beach where the entire process of retrieving has been conducted is planning to sue police and other authorities for alleged damages caused.

According to the owners of the Mukono-based beach, various structures have been damaged including verandars, gardens and other properties.

Earlier this week, police  escavators destroying a garden of a local farmer to make way for the rescue process but after her protests, the police has since compesated her with Shs1m.
