The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Rebecca Kadaga has written to the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Betty Aol Ochan, asking her to renew the term of Bugweri County MP, Abdu Katuntu as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE).

Kadaga’s letter to Ochan argued that if Katuntu is replaced by Kawempe South MP, Mubarak Munyagwa, when his term expires at the of the year, it would jeopardize the Committee’s current investigation into how Bank of Uganda sold off Crane Bank and six other banks.

Katuntu and Anita Among’s term expires at the end of the year and as Parliament closed the year today, Thursday. The Speaker, confirmed having written to AOL asking her to extent Katuntu’s term until the BoU’s investigation is concluded.
