Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Matia Kasaija is sticking to his claim that Uganda’s economy is on a take off stage. While appearing on a local television talk-show yesterday, Kasaija yet again insisted that the country is enjoying a positive growth trajectory economically despite some households swimming in poverty.

“At your home you might not be growing, but that doesn’t mean the economy is not growing,” Kasaija said.

“Anybody who is not feeling the economic growth of this Country has not been involved in any productive activity,” he added.

The minister went on to reveal that as government, they are not going to resist from making more initiatives that bring growth to the economy. He revealed that next week more 4 to 5 factories will be launched in different regions of the country.

Sordid household conditions, the kind some Ugandans live in.

Hon. Kasaija also disclosed that government is considering a policy of having a technical institute per constituency, though for now financial constraints are not letting it be.

The minister also said he is happy that the population is venturing in a lot of practical activities and realizing progress from it, all because the economy is growing.

“I’m glad that Ugandans have now learnt that using hands can earn you more money than brains,”the said.
