Last week on Saturday, we reported that Clerk to Parliament Jane Kibirige had written to Director of Communications and Public Affairs Chris Obore to take his accumulated leave and went ahead to change locks on the doors of his office at Parliament.

Obore had no option but to bow down to Kibirige’s orders and has accepted to go on leave, forcefully of course.

Immediately after his departure, Deputy Clerk to Parliament in charge of Corporate Affairs Waiswa Henry wrote a memo to all staff in the communication department informing them about the changes in the department.

The memo named Deputy Director of Communications and Public Relations Hellen Nanteza Kaweesa as the interim Director of Communications at Parliament replacing Obore.

“During Obore’s absence, I have been instructed to be in charge of the department assisted by the two Assistant Directors. During the interim, the Spokesperson of Parliament will be Ms Hellen Kaweesa assisted by Ms Ranny Ismail,” reads the memo in part.

Obore has been at loggerheads with other members in the department since April when he was directed to leave office on grounds that the Inspector General of Government (IGG) investigated and found irregularities in the way he was recruited, rendering his appointment null and void.
