Police in Wakiso have arrested two suspects for allegedly murdering their child, one Simbwa Patrick aged two and half years. The incident happened in Ssumbwe village, Ssumbwe Parish, Wakiso Sub-County in Wakiso district.

According to Police, the kid was murdered by his biological father, one Busulwa Patrick, 23 years old. Patrick, known to residents as a local plumber is said to have hit the baby on the floor and later dumped the little boy in the nearby swamp. However, he later transferred the body from the swamp and dumped it into his neighbour’s pit latrine.

A day before the body was retrieved; Busulwa reported a case of child disappearance, to the local authorities. The authorities informed the Police which interrogated him and established by his confession that he had murdered the child.

He led Police to Nsereko Noah, the said neighbour’s pit latrine, where the body was found.

“We have since established that Patrick Busulwa is the child’s biological father, while Allen Mukirwa, 18 was a step-mother to the deceased. The two were arrested and are detained at Wakiso main station pending complete investigations,” said Police in a statement.

According to residents, Allen Mukirwa has always put Busulwa on pressure to take the kid to her biological mother. But shockingly Busulwa decided to kill the son so that he can ‘comfortably’ marry Mukirwa.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Mulago city mortuary for post-mortem. The two have been charged with murder.
