Ofwono Opondo: No reasonable Ugandan can still believe in Besigye

The Director of Uganda Media Centre, Ofwono Opondo has advised  four-time presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye to abandon his ‘primitive’ strategies if he wants Ugandans to once again take what he says serious.

Opondo says Besigye’s tricks of instilling fear in Ugandans can no longer work because people are more observant nowadays.

“No reasonable Ugandan will believe Besigye,” Opondo says.

The government spokesperson revealed that Besigye has started many campaigns to make Uganda ungovernable since 2006 but he has failed. According to Opondo, it is because Ugandans realized he can never win an election and they deserve another leader who can offer rightful measures on how to attain change.

During the address today afternoon at his Katonga Road offices, Besigye accused government of crippling every institution hence leading to the ever escalating evils in the country.

Opondo has however accepted that the country has had a series of challenges, but he says government has structured programmes to address the concerns.

“Not everything has been perfect in service delivery but also other sectors have been improving and growing. The mortality rate has reduced for example and the literacy rate improved. So, this government can’t fail to manage security as Besigye says,” Opondo states.

He adds, “Security organs have been doing their work, investigations done, suspects taken to court and others penalized. However much Besigye tries to rub dust on government, it’ll not last.”
