In an attempt to restore calm at Makerere University, the management of the institution has decided to sideline several students who allegedly fronted the unrests and protests against the new university fees policy of 15% tuition cumulative increment.
“The management has taken disciplinary action against some students. The following have been suspended and others warned. Affected students are requested to collect their letters from the Office of the Dean of Students,” reads an official statement from the University.
The statement confirmed suspension of nine students who include;
- Frank Bwambale (Bachelor Journalism and Communication),
- Saasiraabo Siperia (Bachelor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology),
- Rogers Mbajjo Ssebiraalo (Bachelor of Quantitative Economics),
- Derrick Ojambo Wabwire (Bachelor of Records and Archives Management),
- Musiri David (Bachelor Commerce),
- Kyeyune Ivan (Bachelor Arts),
- Mutatina Seiz (Bachelor of Commerce),
- Dhabona Job (Bachelor of Community Psychology), and
- Ssenoga Simon (Bachelor of Industrial and Organizational Psychology).
More 26 students have also been warned and these are;

Earlier today, Police fired tear gas and live bullets in the University library to disperse students’ assembly.
