President Museveni had very many countrymen talking in hush tones and whispers as he evidently appeared to have shed a ton of weight. Many were worried about the NRM Party Chairman’s health was ailing.

However, the Sowing the mustard seed author recently cleared the air saying that the shedding of the weight was a triumph and not a cause for worry for fellow countrymen while talking to the BBC.

The 75-year-old leader said that he has always been fit and it is only when doctors pointed out the mistakes of having a lot of weight that he decided to shed it off.

He added that he had not been watching his weight which had gone up to 160kg and called social media comments of him looking tired ‘utter hogwash’, saying that it was a deliberate move to shed the weight, although he did not reveal how long it took him to shed the weight.

“I eat some cassava, because I don’t eat your European and Asian foods. I eat our food, which is cassava, some bananas, millets and our vegetables,” he told BBC Newsday presenter Allan Kasujja.

“So I normally eat a little bit of that in the morning. Then no lunch, I just drink water and coffee without sugar because it is very bad – sugar is not good,” he emphasized.

His evening routine at around seven includes eating two Irish potatoes because they are low on starch and a lot of vegetables to deceive the stomach that I am putting there something when in fact it is just roughage,” he further revealed.

This is not the first time the President has demonstrated his love for African foods while ridiculing European foods that could as well be attached to his patriotism agenda.
