In this lockdown period, it has been widely reported that cases of domestic violence all over the world have tremendously increased, and this is no different from Uganda.

Yesterday, the State Minister for Gender and Culture Peace Mutuuzo said that Police has recorded more than 3000 domestic violence cases since the country went into lockdown.

Another additional case has been recorded today, and it is of a 32-year-old Proscovia Nabisere, a resident of Bukirbira village, Muge sub-County, Mpigi district who hit her husband Patrick Nsereko, 37, with a brick and high-heeled shoes on the head that killed him.

It is alleged by Bukirbira residents that the two had disagreements that led to a fight in the night, the fight which led to Nsereko losing his life.

Nabyewange Police OC Timothy Musoke got on to the crime scene and directed Nsereko’s body to be taken to Gombe Hospital for autopsy, and arrested Nabirese and taken to Mpigi Central Police Station as investigations are going on.

Achilles Atwebembere, the OC of Kayabwe Police Station said that Nabisere is being charged with murder under file number CRB; 064/ 2020.
