Ever since public and private transport was reopened, there have been cases of people violating the 7 pm curfew that was introduced back in March by President Museveni.

With the increased number of cars on the road, motorists have found themselves failing to get home before 7 pm due to heavy traffic; although Police advised them to plan their journeys early because the traffic jam excuse would not be accepted.

Today while addressing the media at the Uganda Media Centre, Minister of Security Gen Elly Tumwine has warned all motorists to obey the curfew directive, because it is still very much into force.

Tumwine used the same podium to say that they have got information that salon operators have made it practice to invite customers into their salons and work on them behind closed doors, something that is against the President’s directive of these types of businesses to stay closed since there is no way they can observe social distancing. Tumwine has warned them against this practice.

The same has been said of some teachers that invite learners into their homes for coaching, telling them to “leave the children to study from the radio, television, or learning material sent to them by the Ministry of Education and Sports.”
