Despite the existence of COVID-19 pandemic, Uganda’s political arena is getting hotter every day since the Electoral Commission (EC) announced last week that the revised 2021 general election roadmap that forbids campaign rallies.

The majority of popular figures from the opposition have come out to criticize the EC for not consulting them before making the decision. While addressing a press conference at People Power headquarters in Kamwokya, the principal of the youthful movement Bobi Wine has said that there is nothing like a ‘scientific election.’

Bobi said the constitution commends for a free and fair election and the said scientific election cannot pull it off. He claimed that Museveni is the brain behind the announced nature of the election and that is why it only plays in his favour because he commands all institutions in the country.

Bobi, however, said that as leaders in the opposition, they will not allow the EC to organize such an election as it gives no chance for the oppressed Ugandans to effect the change they desire.

The presidential hopeful decided to go for Museveni saying; “You either organise a free and fair election or step down.” He warned that if nothing is done, they are willing to demonstrate and force Museveni to handover power.

Bobi Wine said if all is organised well, he and millions of ‘oppressed Ugandans’ are willing and ready to go against Museveni in the coming election.
