Four-time Presidential Aspirant Rtd. Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye could contest against President Yoweri Museveni for the fifth time if his Forum For Democratic Change (FDC) Party have their way.

It has been reported that founder members and current party leaders have been reaching out to Besigye, asking him to contest as the party’s flagbearer in the 2021 elections but Besigye is reluctant.

The party has however not formally requested Besigye to stand but plans are underway.

“Dr. Besigye is our big fish. We are going to meet him to tell us whether he will hold our flag or not,” FDC President Paul Amuriat said earlier in the week.

Besigye has of recent started an alliance “United Forces of Change” to rally the country together for political change with People Power leader Robert Kyagulanyi.

Kyagulanyi says the opposition will field one strong candidate but Besigye has not pronounced himself on whether he will bless Bobi as the favored opposition candidate.

Their alliance at the moment has restricted their activities to a campaign dubbed “No Nedda” that calls upon Ugandans to make noise on the oppression and injustices they are suffering under the current government.
