Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Judith Nabakooba has revealed that Uganda has entered the most critical stage in the fight against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

The country has registered over 400 COVID-19 cases in the past two days and Nabakooba says the government has been pushed to the limit of locking the country again.

“As government it is not in our interest to announce another lockdown because people’s livelihoods are adversely affected. However under the current circumstances, it is obvious that people will only comply after another lockdown has been put in place,” says Nabakooba.

“I call upon all leaders regardless of your political or religious inclination to own up and speak the same language when it comes to preventing COVID-19. It is unfortunate that some leaders up to today still question whether COVID-19 truly exists in Uganda,” she adds.

To date, Uganda has 2,263 total cumulative confirmed cases of COVID-19 as 97 new cases were registered yesterday. The total recoveries stand at 1,226 while the number of death is 20.
