Government has finally resolved on the reopening of schools and institutions as September 20 is the agreed date for schools to resume. Only candidate classes and finalists in universities will be allowed to return.

“The Government has finally agreed to have schools re-opened in a phased manner. After we have ascertained that schools can put in place the set Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the Government will okay the opening of the remaining classes,” New Vision reported yesterday.

Once school resume, students will have restricted movements to protect them from getting exposed to the virus. They will also be required to report with at least four reusable two layer cotton masks and institutions will be required to offer them sanitisers.

Reopening institutions of learning has been the toughest decisions to make by government as the cost of reopening was estimated to be high.
