As the anticipated date of re-opening schools September 20, is fast approaching, the Ministry of Education and Sports has issued a statement refuting the circulated school calendar for opening institutions that has been making rounds on social media.

According to the press release dated September 12, a number of media houses and social media platforms have prematurely been putting out unauthentic information on the anticipated opening of schools causing anxiety for all stake holders with the most recent one is where a school calendar for opening institutions was circulated on social media.

“This is to advise the public to disregard this information,” stated the document

While information had it that schools would re-open on September 20, the Ministry has also advised the parents and learners to disregard all information until the official position is communicated.

Schools were closed in late March as one of the measures to curb the spread of Covid 19, six months later, parents and students are left wondering if they should register 2020 as a dead academic year.
