A six-year-old girl is undergoing treatment at Kiruddu Hospital after her private parts were allegedly lit with a matchbox by her stepmother Margret Kyolaba, 30 years, a resident of Kimwanyi zone, a Kampala suburb in Katanga Kawempe division.
According to the girl, Margret decided to light her private parts for wetting the bed as she was tired of the smell in the house and drying her mattress.
The victim’s mother Nabirye Sarah narrates that she separated with the girl’s father last year in April and being financial constrained, she could not move away from their home with the daughter hence leaving her in the hands of her father.
Nabirye says that following the incident, she got a call from the girl’s father who claimed that the daughter had sat on fire and sustained serious injuries.
She then rushed to pick her daughter who narrated to her exactly how she got the injuries. She vows to take the matter to court and get justice for her daughter.
