A delegation of European Union ambassadors yesterday on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to State House Entebbe and during the meeting, President Yoweri Museveni cautioned them against involvement in matters that they are not conversant with.

Museveni said that EU and Uganda should work for shared goals and people’s good.  He urged them to always consult government in case of any raised issues.

“By involving yourselves in matters that you don’t understand, even if you do understand, you should not get involved because this kind of misconduct can lead to many serious consequences and suffering of the people like it happened in some African countries,” Museveni said.

The president’s comments come a few days after the EU parliament voted for sanctions against Uganda government officials involved in Human Rights violations.

Similarly on Wednesday this week, the Head of EU Delegation Attilio Pacifici expressed his concern over the growing spread of fake news that he believes intends to create diplomatic standoff between the Government of Uganda and the EU.
