Kira Municipality Member of Parliament Ssemujju Nganda has said that its high time opposition realises that fighting dictatorship is not fighting to get into power but to free the country.

According to Ssemujju, the current breed of opposition is full of opportunists hence the reason they dumped him for Rebecca Kadaga in the speakership race because they thought she had the numbers.

“They were opportunistic, now that has taught them a lesson. I want to congratulate the 15 MPs who voted for me,” said Ssemujju.

He added, “Even after Museveni has gone, to change the culture it will take courage. It will take a lot of effort to change course.”

The outspoken legislator insisted that he didn’t have to assemble a meeting for the opposition to vote opposition in the speakership race.

“Sometimes people pursue personal interest and begin rationalizing even the most stupid things they have done. You can’t tell me that I Ssemujju, need a meeting to convince Opposition MPs to vote me into Speakership,” he said.

Ssemujju came third in the speakership race with 15 votes. Jacob Oulanyah won the race with 310 votes while Kadaga came second with 197 votes.
