Anglican Church, Namirembe Diocese in particular has suspended Rev. Semei Sebina Sekiziyivu, the Parish Priest St Andrews Church in Kiteezi for his involvement in the sale of church land.

In a letter dated September and signed by the Diocese Secretary Rev. Canon Henry Segawa on behalf of Namirembe Diocese Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira, Rev Sekiziyivu was suspended from conducting priestly duties until further investigations concerning the sale of 2 acres of church land are complete.

“It has come to our knowledge that how you have handled church land issues did not follow the procedures of the church. You are hereby directed to step aside in matters of the parish and land until you are recalled,” reads part of the letter.

He was replaced by retired Rev Eriya Kawooya.

It is alleged that Rev Sekiziyivu together with the Archdeacon of Gayaza, Rev Herbert Nyanzi Kabanda who was his immediate supervisor connived to sale church land in guise of development.

The duo claimed that they obtained the orders from Namirembe Diocese hence giving out the land to a one Mary Namuddu.

The church locals decided to raise complaints to the church leadership after Namuddu destroyed all the plantations she found on the land.
