Deputy Speaker Anitah Among has received the Commonwealth Games Baton relay from the National Council of Sports. The customary Queen’s Baton Relay is on a 3-day route in Uganda. The Baton carries a message of Queen Elizabeth II, ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham from July 28 to 8 August 2022.

In her remarks yesterday, Among said that Uganda being the Pearl of Africa is without doubt the most beautiful country in the World.

“We are happy to welcome the Commonwealth Games Baton relay to the Pearl of Africa; it’s an exciting moment for the legislature and the country.

As Uganda, we are privileged to receive the Baton that will be visiting all the 72 Nations of the Commonwealth across Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania, the Caribbean, and America,” said Among.

She also pledged to support the Ugandan team that will be participating in the Common Wealth Games.

The Commonwealth Games offer an opportunity for a friendly rivalry that breaks the cultural and geographical boundaries, also a great opportunity to create a better world where different cultures can find a rallying point.
