Democratic Party (DP) President Norbert Mao has claimed that his recent rants on Twitter about Bobi Wine and his National Unity Platform (NUP) party show disappointment, not anger.

While appearing on NBS TV this morning, Mao stated that Bobi Wine is a captive of his own supporters.

“DP invested a lot in unifying the forces of the opposition. Hon. Kyagulanyi came as a voice of the people who had been victimized.

I saw a young man focused on mobilizing the young people. We gave him a red-carpet welcome and told him to stick to the mission of galvanizing the voices of people opposed to the NRM government, “said Mao.

He added, “I would have expected Hon. Kyagulanyi to tell his supporters not to insult people. Everybody has their rights”.

According to Mao, NUP has no moral authority to say anyone is promoting NRM.

“They are the biggest promoters of NRM,” he said.

However, the DP president disclosed that though he’s willing to engage with Bobi Wine and other NUP leaders, he doubts whether they will give him an audience.

“I am willing to meet NUP leaders, including Hon. Kyagulanyi, but they don’t want to talk. They want to destroy Mao,” he said.
