SPEAKERSHIP RACE: Basalirwa to face off with Anita Among

JEEMA’s Asuman Basalirwa will face off with Anita Among tomorrow as Parliament elects Speaker to replace the deceased speaker Jacob Oulanyah.

This is after he was declared a candidate for the opposition in the speakership race.

Basalirwa beat Erute County South MP, Jonathan Odur with 49 to 20 votes respectively.

Basalirwa is a sole member of the justice forum in parliament and a practicing lawyer in the courts of judicature.

Last evening, the ruling NRM party Central Executive Committee endorsed Deputy Speaker Anita Among as their candidate for the Speakership race.
