The country continues grieving the death of fallen Speaker Jacob Oulanyah but just before the Speaker even gets to his final resting place, controversy continues brewing around his untimely demise.

The country was struck by waves of shock after it was revealed by the powers that be that the fallen Speaker’s send-off is to cost Shs2.5 billion.

Following a public outcry against the misuse of funds, it was revealed that the budget had taken a slash, down to Shs1.8 billion.

To many Ugandans, this looked like applying a bad aid to a gunshot as this budget slash did not help issues at all.

Among the horrified lot is the country’s Inspector General of Government (IGG) Beti Kamya who chose not to mince her thoughts on what she termed as an ongoing “cash bonanza”.

According to Kamya, the departed legislator would not have permitted the current splurge of cash in his name.

“The Spirit of the departed @JacobOulanyah must be horrified by the obscene cash bonanza in his #funeral expenses, he’d not allow it if he had a choice,” she tweeted.

She then said noted that she will honor the fallen speaker by taking interest in the cash splurged on the funeral.

“The @IGGUganda will honor him by taking interest in allegations of impropriety in his funeral #expenses,” she noted.

She flanked the post with two documents detailing the cash budget that was published in local newspapers alongside a letter from an RDC soliciting additional burial funds.

Jacob Oulanyah was a strong advocate for the refurbishment of the country’s moral fiber, with one of his most prominent political outbursts being corruption-centered.

Ugandans are now left with a bitter taste in their mouths seeing that some of the values the fallen speaker stood for are starting to get violated.
