Lawyer charged with defrauding clients over Shs1.2b

Lawyer Ojik Jude is facing up to three years in prison for an alleged scheme where The Anti Corruption Unit and police say he defrauded his clients over Shs1.2b.

Ojik Jude, a lawyer with Ojik and Co.Advocates, was arraigned before the Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court on Monday.

He is facing charges of theft, uttering a false document, and procuring the execution of a document by false pretense.

According to the prosecutors, Ojik was instructed by the Lugwar clan to follow up on compensation of Shs2 billion from the Ministry of Defence where the Pajimo army barracks is built.

He allegedly defrauded over Shs1.2b from the payments made by the Ministry to the claimants.

The court remanded him until September 9.
