The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have arrested the commander of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) group that attacked Ntoroko last month, according to UPDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulaigye.

Without revealing the identity of the ADF commander, Kulaigye explained that he was captured with two other combatants.

“This accounts for all the terrorists that launched the attack. None has gone back. Bravo to gallant combatants.

They can run but they can no longer hide. Wonderful job our gallant Operation Shujaa forces,” said Kulaigye.

Last month, the rebels crossed River Semuliki into Kyanja as they raided Ntoroko, which borders the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The army intercepted the ADF fighters, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.

At least 17 suspected ADF rebels, three civilians, and one UPDF soldier were killed. Also, 13 suspected rebels were captured.

The army also managed to recover 10 AK-47s, 1 PKM, lots of rounds of PKM, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), magazines, gun oil, walkie-talkies, over nine mobile phones, and detonators of IEDs from the rebels.
