Self-proclaimed one-man army, Democratic Party President, and minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Norbert Mao, has vowed to join Dr. Abed Bwanika to expose opposition politicians who pretend to be against negotiations with the ruling NRM government yet secretly meet top government officials.

Last week, when NUP MPs Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana were granted bail after 17 months in prison, Abed Bwanika went on a rampage, alleging that the two MPs gained their freedom after negotiations between the state and several actors in the opposition.

Despite his party president Robert Kyagulanyi and the Leader of the Opposition Mathias Mpuuga refuting their involvement in any negotiations with the state, Bwanika urged the opposition to use the same strategy (negotiation) to facilitate the release of several youths that were arrested during the elections.

According to Bwanika, some opposition politicians oppose negotiations with the government, yet they have always benefited from such talks.

Bwanika claimed that the “medical tourism” of Nambooze in the U.S. and Malende in Kenya involved negotiations with top government officials.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, DP president Mao claimed that he influenced the process of bail release of MPs Ssewanyana and Ssegirinya.

“I was worried about the families that did not have a breadwinner; even their relatives came and asked for help to release their people,” he said.

Mao alleged that some NUP members demonize any opposition politicians that meet government officials, yet they also meet them using the back door.

He vowed to join Abed Bwanika to expose them.

“I have my information about some opposition politicians. Soon I will be releasing information,” he said.

Last year, the DP president ran a rampage on his Twitter page with digs aimed at the Kamwokya-based party. This was after some of the NUP party’s supporters protested outside a Seattle hospital where the late Jacob Oulanyah was undergoing treatment.
