One dead, seven injured in Masaka city accident

One person has been confirmed dead and seven others injured in Masaka city accident.

The accident which happened at around 5:30 am involved motor vehicle reg no KBD 88Y/ZCB9381.

The said trailer which was loaded with matooke was from Mbarara and was offloading from different points, when it reached Soweto market in Masaka City’ where most the vendors were to offload their matooke, it failed to break and went for a distance of about 2kms in the garden, overturned, killing one person on the spot.

The seven people who got injured were rushed to Masaka Referral Hospital and Mulago Referral Hospital for treatment.

The dead person has been identified as Namanda Rebecca, a resident of Nyendo, Masaka City. Her body was taken to Masaka Mortuary for postmortem examination.
