A police officer attached to the Counter Terrorism Tactical Unit in Naguru has been arrested after he allegedly shot his wife, a fellow officer dead.
The incident happened on Tuesday evening at the Jinja Road police barracks in Kampala. The accused, identified as David Ekwang, holds the rank of Assistant Inspector of Police. His wife, Atino Jennifer, was also a police officer and served in the Very Important Person Protection Unit of the Police (VIPPU).
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango disclosed that the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute.
“At this time, the suspect has been placed under detention at the Jinja Road Police Division,” stated Onyango.
The police are investigating the matter further to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the murder.
