Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister (Katikkiro) Charles Peter Mayiga has given an update on Kabaka Ronald Mutebi II’s health condition, saying the King is still sick but not critically ill as he is under the care of expert medical doctors.

In a joint statement dated June 18 from Katikkiro Mayiga, Prince David Kintu Wasajja, and Kingdom elder Augustine Kizito Mutumba, it was noted that the Kabaka, who traveled to Germany in March this year, is receiving the best care.

The statement reveals that Kabaka’s doctors in Germany chose Namibia as the best destination for him to stay while he continues his recovery.

“Kabaka is on his recovery journey in Namibia. It is important to note that he is not critically ill,” reads the statement in part, before the kingdom officials urge the public to continue praying for his quick recovery so that he can enjoy more years leading the kingdom.

According to the statement, the Kabaka will return to Uganda after a full assessment by his medical doctors. For now, he will continue his recovery in Namibia.

The Kingdom has warned the public against making speculations about Kabaka’s health condition, saying only the Katikkiro will be providing updates on the matter.

For a while now, Kabaka’s health has been a public concern as he has been in and out of the country on several occasions for medical reasons.

In 2021, Katikkiro Mayiga said that the Kabaka was suffering from an allergy and was receiving the best care.

Earlier this year, Mayiga revealed that the Kabaka had traveled back to Germany for a medical checkup. A few weeks later, a photo of him surfaced on social media, showing him with his brother, Prince Joseph Ndawula, in Namibia.

Ndawula is the Ugandan Ambassador to Namibia.
