Buyaga West Constituency Member of Parliament (MP), Barnabas Tinkasiimire, has claimed that what has happened in Kenya, where youth (Gen-Z) are leading successful demonstrations and forcing the government to make decisions in their favour, cannot happen in Uganda.
Tinkasiimire believes that the young people in Kenya are more organized than their counterparts in Uganda. He also stated that the politics played in Uganda is the politics of killing generations.
“In Kenya, the young people organized themselves and said enough is enough; these people have to go, and these changes have to be done. There is no youth in Uganda who has that desire. Their desire is to fight to join those who are eating,” said Tinkasiimire while appearing on NBS TV this morning.
Hon. Tinkasiimire further stated, “President Museveni has a clear vision of where he wants to take this country, but the people he recruits don’t have the vision. If they did, Uganda would have transformed, with all these government programs.”
On the issue of the recently renewed urge by President Yoweri Museveni to fight corruption, Tinkasiimire stated that the government officials (cabinet ministers and permanent secretaries) the president was with in Kyankwazi for the retreat last week are the biggest thieves in this country. He claimed, “If the country is losing Shs 10 trillion annually, those people steal Shs 8 trillion.”
Meanwhile, there is a campaign on social media where people are mobilizing to march to Parliament under the hashtag #23MarchToParliament.
