Details have emerged about how police units, led by Crime Intelligence, tracked down and arrested Lujja Bbosa Tabula, the main suspect in the murder of former Ndiga clan leader, Engineer Daniel Bbosa.
Tabula had been on the police wanted list for the last five months after one of the suspects, Noah Lujja, arrested in connection with the murder of the Ndiga Clan head, told security operatives that they were hired by Tabula to kill Engineer Bbosa.
Engineer Bbosa was shot dead on February 25, 2024, in Kikandwa village, Lungujja, Rubaga Division, Kampala, as he was just a few meters away from his home. After the shooting, locals pursued the shooters, lynched one, Enock Sserunkuma, and arrested Noah Lujja. The third suspect fled.
Crime Intelligence was tasked with hunting down Tabula. The police announced a bounty, initially of Shs10 million, and later increased it to Shs20 million for information leading to his capture.
Meanwhile, the Crime Intelligence operatives were working behind the scenes, marking all his possible hideouts as they had established that he was already making plans to evade capture.
It is reported that Tabula first fled his home in Kabanga village, Mpigi Town Council, and went into hiding in Bwojja, Katosi, Mukono District, at the home of an elderly relative. Sources say he used a motorcycle to avoid public transport since his face had been put on a wanted list.
After weeks of analyzing all his relatives, the security operatives went to Katosi but found that he had already left.
Months later, it’s reported that the operatives received information that a man matching Tabula’s description was seen on Kimi Island on Lake Victoria. They immediately invaded the island, but once again, he was ahead of them and had fled the area.
Further interrogations suggested that Tabula had a shrine on Bukasa Island and might be hiding there, but it is said that he stayed there briefly before returning to Katosi.
Sources say he then went to Kabanga village but did not stay at his home, as the police had already, on July 29, recovered 17 human skulls from his shrine.
The fugitive decided to head to Namulonge in Busukuma. However, at this point, the security operatives had systematically started closing in on him as they had placed surveillance on all his possible hideouts.
Tabula is said to have become desperate about what to do, and the security operatives finally arrested him on August 19 in Kimerika, Namulonge, Busukuma.
The police say his file is ready, and he will soon be brought before court to face charges of murder.
