IGP Byakagaba reshuffles seven senior officers

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abbas Byakagaba, has initiated his first major reshuffle of 2025, reassigning seven senior police officers to new roles.

Among the notable changes, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Geoffrey Musana has been appointed as the police attaché in South Sudan, transitioning from his previous role in the Directorate of Welfare and Production.

Senior Commissioner of Police (SCP) Moses Sakira, who previously held the position of police attaché in South Sudan, has been named Deputy Director of Research and Planning. Meanwhile, SCP Timothy Halango has been reassigned from the Directorate of Research and Planning to become Deputy Director of Welfare and Production.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Ben Mubangizi, formerly with the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, will now serve as police attaché to Algeria.

CP Charles Ssebambulidde, previously attached to the Agriculture Police, has been transferred to the Directorate of Engineering and Logistics as Acting Deputy Director.

In other key appointments, CP Phillip Acaye has been assigned as Commandant of Agriculture Police, leaving his former role in the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety.

Additionally, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Norman Musinga, the former Kampala Metropolitan Traffic and Road Safety Commander, has been appointed Acting Director of Traffic and Road Safety after serving as Regional Police Commander (RPC) in Busoga East.

“The Uganda Police Force extends its heartfelt congratulations to the officers on their new appointments and wishes them success in their respective roles,” said ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the Police Spokesperson.
