The Electoral Commission (EC) has reported notable progress in the ongoing General Update of the National Voters’ Register, with just four days remaining until the deadline on February 10, 2025.

Julius Mucunguzi, the EC spokesperson, reassured the public that the remaining time is sufficient for individuals who still need to register or update their voting information, including changing their voting location.

Mucunguzi urged eligible Ugandans to visit designated registration centers across the country to complete their registration or updates. He emphasized that the commission has no plans to extend the registration period.

He clarified that new voters, as well as those seeking to transfer their voting locations, are required to visit the centers in person. Meanwhile, registered voters can verify and correct their details online through the Electoral Commission’s website at https://ec.or.ug/register.

The registration exercise, which began on January 20, will conclude on February 10, 2025. It is being conducted at update stations nationwide, operating daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The initiative is focused on registering new voters, facilitating the transfer of voting locations, and ensuring the accuracy of voter details.

The update of the voters’ register is an essential step in preparing for the 2026 general elections, ensuring an accurate count of eligible voters.
