A man in Luwero District has been stabbed to death by a bar attendant after allegedly demanding her phone number repeatedly.

The deceased, identified as Shaban Banduga, a resident of Kakinzi Trading Centre, was allegedly stabbed by Sumayiya Nayiga, a bar attendant at Blue One Bar located in Kakoola Village, along the Kampala–Gulu highway.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on Friday at around 9:30 p.m. Banduga, who was reportedly intoxicated at the time, is said to have persistently made advances toward Nayiga, which she declined. The situation escalated into a heated confrontation, culminating in a physical fight.

During the altercation, Nayiga allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Banduga. In retaliation, an enraged group of local youths reportedly attacked and beat her.

Both Banduga and Nayiga were rushed to Luwero Hospital. Banduga was pronounced dead on arrival, while Nayiga was later referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for further treatment due to the injuries she sustained during the mob attack.

Police say investigations into the incident are ongoing. Upon her recovery, Nayiga is expected to face murder charges.
