Following the launch of the 2025 National Voters Register display exercise on April 25, the Electoral Commission (EC) has provided an online search tool to help citizens confirm their voter registration status.

The online portal — https://ec.or.ug/register/ — requires users to enter either their voter’s number or National ID (NIN), after which their registration details will be displayed.

The portal is intended to assist individuals who are unable to physically visit the polling stations where the registers are being displayed.

The exercise began on April 25 and will run until May 15, 2025. It takes place daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including weekends, at all polling stations across Uganda.

According to the EC Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama, the exercise aims to ensure the accuracy and inclusiveness of the National Voters Register ahead of the elections. It involves the following:

  • Checking the correctness of personal particulars on the Voters Register
  • Confirming that photographs appear against the correct particulars
  • Raising objections to the inclusion and/or removal of a voter’s details from the Register
  • Reporting to the Display Officer any of the following categories of persons (if they appear on the Register) for removal:
    • Those who have died
    • Those under 18 years of age
    • Those who reside in or originate from a parish different from the one they are registered in
    • Those who appear more than once on the Voters Register

This supplementary display exercise also allows any person who may have been wrongly recommended for deletion to file an objection with the Parish/Ward Tribunal.

All complaints arising from the display exercise shall be addressed to the Returning Officers of the respective Electoral Districts.
