Security operatives have reportedly conducted a search at the home of Charles Twine, the former spokesperson of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), in Kasangati, Wakiso District.

Twine had reportedly gone missing at Police Headquarters in Naguru, where he had been summoned for a meeting with the Inspector General of Police, Abas Byakagaba, and his deputy, James Ochaya. The purpose of the meeting remains undisclosed.

Reports now indicate that on Tuesday, he returned home in the company of security operatives from the Counter-Terrorism Unit.

According to his wife, Kate Kabagenyi, the officers arrived at their home without prior notification and proceeded to conduct a thorough search of the premises.

“They checked everything, but they didn’t take anything,” she is quoted as saying. She added that although she briefly saw her husband, she was not allowed to speak with him or ask any questions.

Police and other security agencies have remained tight-lipped about the reasons behind Twine’s earlier summons, detention, and the search operation.

On Monday, during the weekly security briefing, Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke offered no clarity, stating:

“At the moment, I have no information about Twine’s disappearance that I can comment on. I speak for the police based on what I’m provided with. We’ll wait and see if there’s any development regarding his arrest, and I’ll communicate accordingly.”
