Police have launched a manhunt for a man identified as Godi Muwonge, also known as Kabaka Aperu, after a woman he had checked into a lodge with was found dead in Nsangi, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District, along the Masaka highway.

The deceased, identified only as Patricia, is believed to have met Muwonge in a bar before the two proceeded to Sanyuka Lodge on the morning of 7 September, where they paid Shs10,000 for a room.

According to lodge management, the pair spent much of their stay drinking, often leaving to buy alcohol before returning to their room. On Tuesday night, Patricia was reportedly brought back in a highly intoxicated state, barely able to stand on her own.

Muwonge managed to get her into the room, but her condition worsened. He allegedly attempted to revive her by giving her milk, though without success. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said investigators suspect Muwonge fled after realising Patricia’s health was deteriorating.

On Wednesday morning, lodge attendants discovered Patricia’s body in the same room. Nsangi Police were immediately alerted and, upon arrival, examined the scene, took witness statements, and recovered a milk container believed to have been used in the attempted revival. Patricia’s body was transferred to the city mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

“Nsangi Police Division has opened a death inquiry file to establish the exact circumstances under which Patricia died. The post-mortem report will guide the investigation further,” Onyango confirmed.

Friends who spoke to police said Patricia was a commercial sex worker who often spent several days with clients. She reportedly rented a room in Kasenge, Kyengera Town Council, where she either received clients or moved with them to nearby lodges.
