Police in Nsangi Division have arrested three key suspects believed to be part of a gang of panga-wielding thugs that has been terrorising residents in the area.

The suspects have been identified as Niwagaba Shaban, Turinawe Eddie, and Kawakki Sulaiman.

According to SSP Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Niwagaba and Turinawe face charges of murder and aggravated robbery, while Kawakki has been charged with possession of suspected stolen property.

Investigations indicate that Kawakki allegedly ran a shop in downtown Kampala where he bought and resold stolen mobile phones. During a search, police recovered several suspected stolen phones from his premises.

Police believe the arrests have significantly disrupted the gang’s operations, bringing much-needed relief to the residents of Nsangi and neighbouring areas.

The suspects remain in custody and are expected to appear in court this week.
