The Police Disciplinary Court has recommended the dismissal of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Clive Nsiima from the force for assaulting a female shop attendant in Kyanja, Kampala.

According to police authorities, the officer was found guilty of misconduct and abuse of authority following a thorough internal investigation.

On Monday, ASP Clive Nsiima was arraigned before Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu at City Hall Court and charged with assault and malicious damage to property after CCTV footage showed him slapping the female shop attendant.

The magistrate ordered that he be remanded until 16 October, when the court will rule on his bail application.

Meanwhile, Nsiima’s lawyer informed the court that both parties had since reached a reconciliation agreement, although the prosecution maintained that the matter remains criminal and subject to judicial determination.

The incident, which occurred on 7 October, went viral on social media last week, sparking public outrage and prompting the police to take swift disciplinary and criminal action against the officer.
