Former Inspector General of Government (IGG) Beti Olive Namisango Kamya has bounced back into public service, with President Yoweri Museveni naming her his Advisor on General Duties.

The appointment, which was confirmed by Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Faruk Kirunda during a campaign stop in Bugweri District, comes barely a month after Kamya exited the IGG’s office upon completion of her contract.

Sources say the President signed the appointment instruments on 31 October 2025, instructing the Ministry of Public Service to complete the formal deployment. Insider reports also suggest that the benefits attached to her new role were tailored specifically for her, and may not necessarily be extended to future holders of the same position.

Kamya served as IGG from 15 July 2021 until her term ended recently. She was succeeded by High Court Judge Aisha Naluzze Batala.

During her time as the country’s top anti-corruption watchdog, Kamya championed several high-profile initiatives, including the Lifestyle Audit campaign and programmes aimed at strengthening citizen participation in the fight against corruption.

Before joining the IGG’s office, she held key Cabinet positions such as Minister for Kampala and Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development.
