The Officer in Charge of Ntawo Police Post, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emma Bagenda, has been shot dead in a late-night attack in Mukono.
The incident occurred on the night of 23 November when Bagenda and other officers confronted suspected thieves in Ntawo, located in Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality.
According to preliminary reports, the officers stopped a motorcycle carrying suspected criminals at around 10:20 pm. The riders allegedly opened fire, killing ASP Bagenda on the spot and injuring a police constable. The attackers also fled with a police-issued firearm.
Security agencies have since launched a manhunt for the suspects and opened investigations into the shooting.
