Former member of the East African Legislative Assembly, Hon. Mukasa Mbidde, who recently lost in the race for the Buwekula parliamentary seat, has said that he has never won an election where the voters are below Senior Six or its equivalent.
While appearing on a talk show on UBC TV, Mbidde said that he has always won elections where voters are Senior Six and above.
“From the time I was Guild President, I have won the East African Legislative Assembly parliamentary race twice, serving for a total of ten years,” Mbidde said.
He further stated, “I was elected Vice President of the Democratic Party (DP) at a Delegates Conference composed largely of voters who were Senior Six and above, and I was unopposed almost four times.”
Mbidde said that when it comes to elections where people below Senior Six vote, he has always lost.
“When it comes to elections dominated by #Wazoks and #Palokas, I have not won. So, for me, I believe it is only natural to expect that outcome.”
Mbidde has contested for a parliamentary position in four different constituencies and lost all. In 2005, he contested in Makindye West. In 2007, he competed in the Kalungu East parliamentary seat by-election and lost.
In 2021, he stood against Mathias Mpuuga in Nyendo-Mukungwe and lost. Most recently, in 2026, he contested for the Buwekula parliamentary seat and once again lost.
