Security agencies have arrested five suspects linked to a series of aggravated robberies in the Kampala Metropolitan Policing Area and recovered three firearms during a targeted security operation.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachel Kawala, the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation carried out in Kiti A Zone, Kirinya Parish, Bweyogerere Division, Wakiso District, between 24 and 27 January 2026.
The suspects were identified as Amutuhairwe Robinson, a former army officer who was discharged from service; Okello Daniel, a security guard working with Fortebet; Kasango Arafat; Luyirika Joseph Innocent; and Alphonse Daniel.
Kawala said officers recovered three guns and three magazines, along with other exhibits linked to criminal activity.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the killing of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Bagenda Emmanuel, the Officer-in-Charge of Ntawo. The officer was shot dead on 23 November 2025 at about 10:00 a.m. while on patrol along the Ntawo–Nyenje Road in Ntawo Ward, Mukono Central Division, Mukono District.
Preliminary investigations indicate that ASP Bagenda was responding to intelligence reports about an armed robbery in the area at the time of the attack.
Police further revealed that the suspects admitted taking part in several aggravated robberies, particularly mobile money-related robberies, across the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
“Operations are ongoing to track down and arrest other suspects connected to these crimes,” Kawala said.
