The Uganda Prisons Service has announced a reward of Shs10 million for information that will lead to the arrest of fugitive prison warder Anguyo Moses, the main suspect in a deadly shooting at Kiboga Government Prison.

Authorities say the suspect allegedly opened fire inside the prison on February 23, 2026, at around 10:00 a.m., killing three people instantly and injuring others.

Those who died at the scene were Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine, the Deputy Officer in Charge, Principal Officer I Akishuri Bright, who served as the third-in-command, and Ayebare Sarah, the wife of the Officer in Charge.

During the attack, a one-year-old boy, the son of the Officer in Charge, was shot in the stomach. He was rushed to Kiboga Hospital together with his father but later died from his injuries the same night, bringing the total number of victims to four.

After the shooting, Anguyo fled the prison, triggering a joint search operation involving police, the Uganda Prisons Service, and other security agencies. Investigators have since recovered the gun believed to have been used in the attack, but the suspect remains on the run.

Officials say investigations are still ongoing, with early findings suggesting the shooting may have been linked to internal disputes at the facility.

Prisons spokesperson Frank Baine confirmed the bounty in a statement issued Monday evening, saying the reward will be given to anyone who provides credible information that leads to the arrest of Anguyo Moses, who is considered armed and dangerous.
