The Anti-Pornography Committee has warned that it may close New Best Hotel in Busega over claims that it is linked to pornography-related activities.
Annette Kezaabu, the chairperson of the Pornography Control Committee, says that the facility has repeatedly ignored warnings about alleged involvement in the production or facilitation of explicit content.
According to the committee, the management of the hotel has been engaged multiple times, but the concerns have not been addressed. Authorities have now warned that failure to comply with the law could lead to permanent closure.
Officials say the case is part of a wider nationwide operation targeting establishments suspected of promoting pornography. They argue that such environments can contribute to exploitation and expose young people to harmful material.
Beyond enforcement against businesses, regulators are also turning their attention to online content. In collaboration with the Uganda Communications Commission, the committee says more than 500 pornographic websites have already been blocked.
The committee has further revealed that it is reviewing the conduct of several musicians over concerns about indecent dressing and performances.
