Justice Alice Komuhangi Khaukha is expected to deliver a long-awaited verdict today, April 30, 2026, in the case against 38-year-old Christopher Okello Onyum. The ruling is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.

Onyum is facing charges over the deaths of four children following a tragic incident on April 2, 2026, at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Centre.

Earlier this week, prosecutors led by Jonathan Muwaganya wrapped up their case, telling the court that the evidence clearly shows Onyum is responsible for the deaths. They asked the judge to find him guilty on all four counts, saying the case has been proven beyond reasonable doubt.

In his defence, Onyum denied deliberately causing the children’s deaths. He told the court he had no intention to kill. Although he had initially planned to call two witnesses, he dropped the idea after failing to locate them, bringing his defence to a close.

Onyum, who had recently returned from the United States, is accused of killing Ignatius Sseruyange, Ryan Odeke, Keisha Ogenorwoth Otim, and Gideon Oteku at the daycare centre. Prosecutors say the killings were intentional.
